Smashbox Love Me Eyeshadow Palette "Admire Me" Review/Swatches

 Hallo, beautiful people out there! I'm posting about an eye product from Smashbox today! This is a "Love Me Eyeshadow Palette" in Admire Me, and I believe it was from Smashbox's spring collection in 2013. 

Tbh, I didn't buy it when Smashbox was officially selling it on their retailer stores, but I found it months later at Winners. For those of you who don't know what Winners is, it's a chain of department store, where sells outdated brand name products for lower price. It sells everything from home decor stuff to clothing! I don't usually buy clothes from Winners because they're hardly in style, but eyeshadows (especially when they're in neutral colours) can never go wrong!

How beautifully designed!

The pan is kinda weirdly shaped. The way they divided each shadow wasn't very impressive because it makes me tricky to use the two eyeshadows on the side. What makes me struggle more is that they put my favorite shade in the smallest pan! How dare you! D: (It's the one on the very left side, and you'll see the swatch very soon!)

Overall, I like every colour the palette contains. They are all beautiful warm browns (oops and one warm pink), which should be lived-in colours for pretty much everyone. All colours are shimmery except the brown in the shape of a Christmas light.

Amazing pigmentation! Eyeshadows are extremely creamy

As you can see the range of colour is just gorgeous. It has from shimmery bright champagne colour to deep sparkly brown! (Although my camera didn't catch the glitters on the eyeshadow) 

So my favorite colour would the one on the very left of the swatches, it's a deep iridescent  gold. So glamorous. 

Pink shade is pretty too. It's a very elegant pink, which gives you subtle pop of pink on your eyelids.

EOTD: Strawberry Sorbet (Urban Decay naked3 makeup)

Naked 3 palette has never been an easy palette for me to use. I bought it when Sephora was having that annual sale, but, you know, I wasn't like "I want Naked3, I'm gonna diiiie". I was more like "Okay, Sephora's on sale, and it's now or never, so I have to buy something." And that something was Naked 3 because everyone was so excited about Urban Decay releasing another palette in Naked series. So, basically, I just jumped into all that hypes.

You might know if you have watched my recent video, but I'm not a fan of pink makeup. That means, Naked3 didn't even have chance to become one of my favorite palettes because it's full of rose-gold eyeshadows. So I hadn't reached for this palette for about good 1 month maybe? Then finally spring came, the season of romantic flowers, and that was when I started to try out this bad boy.

and... Apparently pink didn't look as awkward as I thought it would be on my eyes! Yay! I actually LOVE few matte shades in Naked3. I haven't uploaded the swatches yet, but they'll be up pretty soon.

EOTD: Mini galaxy

So I twisted a thing a little bit here... I have uploaded an EOTD photo straight from my Instagram account, so they were usually all collages. I decided to upload separate pictures on blog just to show you guys more high-definition and organized pictures of my makeup look! 

So here are some pictures for my old work. I tried something a bit editorial that day with bright colours. Maybe using a wet brush would have brought more intense look.

HyunA "Hot" Makeup Tutorial for Monolids

HyunA came back with another sexy and seductive song, and this is the makeup she was wearing in her teaser pictures!

It looks very glamorous, but surprisingly, I didn't have to use too much for this makeup. All I used for eye makeup was my beloved TooFaced Chocolate Bar! (if you wanna watch the first impression for Chocolate Bar eyeshadow collection, click HERE) Arrrrg I'm just in love with this palette. It's so versatile!

Although I tried to mimic the technique Hyuna used (so maybe accentuating outer V) and use very similar colours of eyeshadoes, my final look may look different from Hyuna's look just because we have different shapes of eyes! Well, that's a fun part of recreating makeup looks, isn't it? You find makeup look that is so great that you want to copy it, and as soon as you recreate that look, it becomes your own look! There's no such look that you can't pull off. Just be passionate and keep discovering new you! xx

My First Favorites Video!: July Favorites 2014

Finally done procrastinating, and got my job done! Well I know it's already late for July favorites, but it's better than never :P

I actually talked about how my life was in July and about some non-beauty favorites, but I cut those parts off because the video became too lengthy. :( Guess I'll have to try to be more concise next time!

BH cosmetics "120 Color Palette (2nd Edition)" & "Take Me to Brazil Palette"

Here are some more bright eyeshadow palettes that I bought last year... Following the bright/neutral eyeshadow palettes from Elf Cosmetics, they added more ranges of bright eyeshadows to my makeup collection.

My favorite part of BH cosmetics was how they designed a case. Well.. Not the illustration they put on the  "Take me to Brazil" case, but the sturdiness of the cases. Comparing to an acrylic case of Elf Cosmetics' Bright/Neutral eyeshadow palettes, these palettes are definitely more travel-safe and harder to break.

Here are swatches of some eyeshadows in 120 colour palette. Overall, they have decent pigmentation, and, unlike the palettes from Elf Cosmetics, even some matte shades are surprisingly pigmented. However, I'll have to say I prefer Elf Cosmetics' formula of their eyeshadows because they are creamier.

 Take me to Brazil contains neon bright colours, shimmery white and matte black.

 

Sorry that I didn't swatch the black and white shadows in the palette. There was nothing special about them-sheer shimmery white and sheer black...

As you can see many shades are chalky and sheer. I was disappointed with the quality of the eyeshadows, but the colours themselves are very pretty (especially the first 4 shades are my favorite) :) 

Pros:

-sturdiness of their cases

-ranges of the colours

Cons:

-Formula is very dry

-poor pigmentation

Elf Cosmetics Bright Eyeshadow Palette & Neutral Eyeshadow Palette Swatches/Review/Photos

I started to try some editorial/super bright makeup looks as I opened up my instagram account (@iamroellek) last summer, so I decided to purchase some huge palettes that contain whole ranges of colours.

I had done some research on multi colour eyeshadow palettes, and I found the ones from Elf cosmetics had good reviews. I checked out their website, and, luckily, they were on sale! (Actually Elf cosmetics always has some kinds of promotions) So I bought two sets of their palettes-

this is the 'bright' version of their palette

and this is the neutral version.

Neutral version definitely comes in handy because it contains tons of browns (and some whites and blacks) with different undertones! I think this would be a really good option for makeup starters who haven't figured out their 'best' colours that complement their own skin tones. You can try different shades of browns and find out what colour suit you the best. Let me show you some swatches.

These are the swatches for the neutral eyeshadow palette. I didn't swatch all of them because I'll need my whole body to do that. Overall, shimmery shadows are amazing. They're creamy and so pigmented! Most of matte shadows are a bit disappointing, but I knew that I couldn't expect fine qualities for every single shadow.

These are shades from the bright eyeshadow palette. As you can see, shimmery shadows (especially ones on the right) are beautifully pigmented, but most of the matte bright shades are a bit chalky and sheer.

Pros:
-cheap price (they were both only $15 when I bought them)
-pigmentation of shimmery shadows
-you can intensify the colour by applying it with a wet brush.

Cons:
-Flimsy case: acrylic case seems really weak. I don't think I can travel with this palette...
-some shades are chalky and not pigmented.
